Martine M.

Originally a science graduate from Adana, Emine resumed her studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Mersin University and graduated in 2007.

Her works, both original and unique, are conceived using carefully selected images from different source materials (newspapers, photos, paintings, wallpaper, etc).

Using the collage technique, she blends the visuals of the city with the historical and societal elements of Istanbul. Both challenging and intriguing, from a distance the paintings have a holistic and aesthetic harmony but on closer observation the viewer is called upon to witness  the difficulties of living in the city and in society today.

Of American origin, this artist graduated from the University of Wyoming “Fine arts in painting”.

Her work explores the reciprocal interactions between her and her changing environments. Gabrielle is interested in a sense of self, personal identity, how we affect the world around us and how we too are transformed by our surroundings.

Her love of drawing has led her to observe the city of Istanbul and its traditions in a way that removes them from their context so as to make us even more aware of each as a whole.

Born in Istanbul, Murat graduated from Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts in 1999.

Versatile, this artist stands out for the variety of techniques and materials used: plastics, felts, fine wool fibers, all bringing great depth to his works.

Murat emphasizes the growing alienation of human beings by referring to concepts of a  visual dimension such as fusion and disappearance, similar to cities that grow rapidly and  disproportionately. This gives a new interpretation to contemporary art.

Working with different materials such as felt and paint, his works can be found in various collections, in particular at MSGSÜ, the Museum of Painting and Sculpture in Istanbul, the University of Ege, the Museum of Graphic Arts in Imoga and the collection of the Evliyagil Museum.

Murat has also participated in several exhibitions in Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara.
